I used to mark my life by the happy events that happened. That one birthday, that one specific beach trip, that summer we went to Hershey instead of camping...

Now it seems the only way I'm able to tell one year from another, distinguish a day from a week from a month, to put events in my mind in chronological order is to compare them to when people in my life die.

Mauricio was at my house all of 2 weeks ago for a bonfire. Krista and him had been dating for about a month or so and she was head over heels for him. Rightfully so. He was just THE most amazing human being. Just so polite, funny, giving. The night I first met him was great. He pulled me into a corner to talk to him about Krista because he had a huge crush on her and I had the information. haha. He was like "Kaeley is awesome! She's totally my new friend." I always joked with Krista "You better not let go of him because I'll totally be after that as soon as you do!".

I don't understand it, honestly. There's just too many people in my life dying... and he was the last one I would have ever expected to be next.
